I will be making updates to My Facebook(facebook.com/Ciros) as we go, as well as My Twitter(twitter.com/iCiros). I totally understand that as I go through the passes I am mostly driving in second gear. I totally know how to drive the vehicle in my brain.... but that is in my brain, and we all know how twisted that can be.

That being said. There has been some probable situations in which it may be another month before we leave. I really hope that is not the case.
Out of boredom, things I have done today:

1) Attempted to install OpenBSD 4.6 Snapshot. It met with moderate success, as it comes down to it, there is not support for my laptop's wireless card. I did get it to boot into gnome without any issues this time, and that made me happy. There is also no round-about way for graphics accelerations in the 3d realm (read proprietary drivers don't exist). This last thing doesn't bother me much, as I really don't do 3D things on the laptop much, if at all. The thing that made me not continue with the endeavour, is that, this is my laptop, which means, pointless to have an Operating system that will not support my wireless card.

2) Found out all the BIOS updates from HP are served on windows, no manual update option. With the Hard Drive I was playing with for OpenBSD, I re-installed Windows, just so I can update my BIOS at times. Kinda funny, the only use I have for Windows is to game and to update my BIOS.

3) Updated my BIOS.

4) Decided today would be a fun day to update my filesystem on Ubuntu from ext3 to ext4. (reason I have to do this is because I upgraded, and when you initially upgrade the filesystem does upgrade, just the files.) I messed it up initially but using fsck I was able to correct the issue and to update to ext4 (fully functioning, Go me!)

5) Updated my GRUB from 1.5 to 1.96 so that it can boot into the ext4 filesystem. There is only the issue that it isn't hiding the selection list. This isnt much of an issue for me, but it would be nice to have the nice and clean boot again. It may not be as pretty, but it is functioning flawlessly, which makes me happy.

With those things done, I am going to sleep.

(1 month till move to WA)

So I didn't get up early enough to do my distance x2. It brought me some sadness. I did force myself out, even though I left later in the evening than I did yesterday. I walked the same route, but was trying to make myself go faster. I wanted to see a much improved time on there like 10-15min. I was not as lucky today, but I did impress myself tonight. I shaved off 7 minutes. (Must remember that I take a short break, before I do the final leg home, to stretch my legs some.)

What I need to do now, is to figure out where I can make up some distance to make it so I am walking a good round 4.5miles. if I can find out where to make up the distance, and get myself to do that distance in 1 hr, I may stay there for a week....but ever pushing myself (and shaving off time) until I feel comfortable with that distance. Then, increase it to 5 miles or even 6.

Once I get that then work on that distance to lower to 1hr, etc etc until I can feel confident to force myself to jog the whole distance(which at 6miles in 1 hr, I am basically doing just that). Which, turns to getting myself up to hopefully 10-15 miles in an hr. When I achieve 10-15miles in the hr, I am going to then push distance more until, well, I am basically full out running like 20-25 in that hr.

I know that almost sounds out land-ish(sp?), Especially coming from a recently-quit x-smoker, who has a bad back. But, with the proper regimen, and core muscle strengthening I am quite sure it is possible, even for me.

Simply put, by this time next year, I want to be able to run a marathon, and not have an issue doing so. It is going to take a lot to do this pseudo-goal, but if I don't push myself one this front, I can see myself slipping to worse health, and I don't want to end up absolutely unhealthy.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have similar announcement, if not having finding the distance, but atleast reducing time.

(ctrl+k+x)

RT #1: It has been more than a month since last ciggy...go me.
RT #2: While I was out actually getting excercise today, I was thinking why would I be willing to push myself, basically to the point of actually walking fast enough to make my heart rate high, and make me breath heavily.
I came to a conclusion of that one showering. I have to get my fitness level better. I have smoked for like 10 years. That has made my fitness level low... I want my resting hert rate to be 50 again, and be able to just run for randomness sake, and not just be totally tired.

So today, I went out, and advised I would be back in 30min to 1 hr depending on how much excercise I wanted to get. I walked 4.26miles in 1hr 07min. Not bad, I think atleast. Tomorrow I am planning on doing it again, perhaps shave off that 7 minutes some. I may just do the cycle twice too, once in the morning, once in the evening. we will see how I am feeling tomorrow -.-

(ctrl+k-x)

Well This week has been somewhat productive as far as my tech goes:

On Geek/Nerd Pride day(memorial day for you non-Geeks), I decided to play around and make a new server. I tried to make it with my 1.2celeron, 768mb ram. The computer kept acting up, did reboots. It was rather annoying. I decided to just try and see if I could get my socet 478 P4 2.4ghz(HT) and 1gig ram working. It did! So, happy me put the computer together and rebooted, found out it had win server 2003 on it. I backed up data, and then I Installed Open BSD on the server. 3 hrs later, I was downloading packages, ports, and making things work with final configuration. Took me 2 days to compile some things on it. Now, I can do x-forwarding (though secure shell) as well as what i had planned to do with it. Now I have a dedicated learning to program machine.

Today:
Today I decided to do something I have been planning on doing for months. (back story) A few months ago(more like a year ago) I decided I needed to switch the firmware that I have in my router to a new distribution than what I had on there earlier. For those not in the know, I have a Linksys Wrt45g(v 3.0) Router. It was found out there was a vulnerability in the router that would allow you to upload a 3rd party firmware though a process. Eventually, I think linksys decided to make it so some of their routers could have different firmware installed, but of course there will be no Linksys Support for these routers with 3rd party firmware. I have never liked the Linksys firmware, it was lacking for a system that touted that it was built on linux. I fount one firmware I liked, it was produced by seavsoft. When I first installed, they did good, and updated their firmware regularly, and made sure there were free versions, as well as the usual paid ones(paid had a few more features). They stopped updating, and I just kept the firmware I had because I was too lazy to find another one. I knew of many other firmwares, but reading about them, and installing can be annoying.

Today I have officially installed the new firmware. I had to first update to the current Linksys firmware, do a 30 30 30 hard reset. Then I uploaded the firmware recommended for my router (dd-wrt,v24-11296-VINT_mini). When that was done, I did another 30 30 30 hard reset. when it came back up, I installed the dd-wrt.v25-11296_VINT_std Firmware, did a soft reset and set up all the settings I had before. It was long and tedious, but 2 hrs later I had it all working again. the only issue I had was that the single port forwarding doesnt seem to work, only the port range forwarding.*shrugs*

In the end, everything is working, and now I have way more options than I did before, and that brings great happiness to me.

I took mental stock of the systems in the house, and what they are running, the breakdown is like this
Linux= 2 systems, Router, Name: Techno(dd-wrt), Laptop, Name: Geeba(Ubuntu 9.04)(Geeba=Short for Goblin)
OpenBSD= 1 system, Computer/server, Name: Sinestro(4.5 snapshot 05/20) (yellow case...heh get it?)
MacOSX= 3 systems, Mom's G4(10.5.7), Mom's Macbook Pro(10.5.7), My Macbook Pro, Name: White_Rabit(10.5.7)
Windows= 3 systems, Step-dad's Desktop(XP64), Step-Dad's Laptop(XP32), My Gaming Rig, Name: Spectre(XP64)

In essence, What this means is that, 6 systems are Linux or Unix based, and only 3 systems are windows based. Also, before you ask, MacOSX is based from NetBSD, but then has been altered with linux code to produce the operating system. Since is still uses a pretty much proprietary File system(journaling..heh) it is still unique.

take that and shove it Microsoft!

and with those realizations I am going to fall asleep next to my perl book >.>

I went up hills, down hills, took pictures...and overall was happy I had 48 ounces of water on my back, else I am sure I would have either passed out on the trail and the vultures nibbling on me, or would have been hospitalized for heat stroke/exhaustion. I may have gotten some good pics, we will see when I develop my pics.

Yesterday, I went to McConnell Springs. Once again might have gotten some good pics.

I am trying to get my fitness level higher, especially since I havent had any cigs in over a week. go me.

So update on stuff.

1) I have my steam account back. I am quite pleased to finally have this account back, as it was hijacked because I was an idiot. After two tickets, and two weeks it came back to me.

2) Bank account stuff: I got the 250 dollar charge reversed on my credit card and re-deposited. That allowed my account to be no longer overdrawn. I got all the overdraft fees reversed, and it made me happy. I am still waiting on the 100 dollars to be make it back in my account. once that happens I will be happy.

and something new...

3) I went to see Watchmen Unfortunately, It gave me great displeasure. This is for the fact, I have actually read the novel, so I know what all happens. The ending change totally changed the story line IMO. The cut down is: beginning=good, Middle=okay, end=bad. I wont get into it if you havent seen it. I would say go see it, as far from what I can tell, if you know and loved the book, you will have one or another opinion. If you havent read the novel, then there is a chance that you will be bored and disconnected. Many people have said that the music made them seriously disconnect from the movie, I didnt experience that, as the music took ques directly from the novel.

[Edit]
one more thing....
4) I have twitter, contact me if you want the name to follow nd what not.

But you could also be diagnosed as pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. which is kinda like you meet the criteria, but the late age of onset, or what not.
[Anonymous] Ciros, but I had no delays in develpment
[Ciros] no delays mean that you do meet the criteria for asperger's BUT would have to go through the criteria for the other pervasive developmental disorders to make sure
